This Lenten season, we have a wonderful opportunity to experience Christ’s Passion in a very special way by participating in a Discipleship Group using Dr. Edward Sri’s book No Greater Love: A Biblical Walk through Christ’s Passion. You may know Dr. Sri from his Symbolon series on Formed.org.

We often hear and read about Christ’s Passion and death. It has profound significance in our faith and is central to our prayer and worship. Employing your imagination and guided by Dr. Sri, you will experience the stories of the Passion as if hearing it for the first time. It will help us fully realize that Jesus is a real person who really suffered and died for us so we may have eternal life.

We will walk step-by-step with Jesus on his journey from his Agony in the Garden to his Crucifixion at Calvary. Along the way, we get to unpack the biblical background to these events, the prophecies, and the ways Jesus is inviting us to walk more closely with him today.

Participants in in the Discipleship Group will use a book, a workbook, and the program also includes a video series Dr. Sri recorded in the Holy Land showing the exact locations where Christ’s Passion occurred.

There are opportunities to form Discipleship Groups in your home or to participate in a group at the parish. The parish-based groups will meet on five consecutive Wednesdays beginning March 11th and finishing April 8th. You can join a parish group that meets from 10am to 12pm or one that meets from 7pm to 9pm.

The price for the combined book and workbook, as well as access to the video portion, is $20. You may purchase and pick up the books either at the glass display case in the foyer after weekend Mass or at the Parish Office throughout the week. It is very important that everyone participating register online at saintbenedict.ca/lentdg. Please register and pick up your books by March 8th.

Prior to your first group meeting, it would help to read the book’s introduction and the first four chapters. Each chapter has some reflection questions that will help generate discussion in your small group. This is a great opportunity to go further in your journey of faith and deeper in your relationship with Jesus.
