If you attend either the 4pm Saturday Mass or the 4pm Sunday Mass at Saint Benedict, or if you have popped in recently, you may have noticed a significant difference in the quality of the organ, in a very positive direction. This is due to the fact that the new organ, which was mentioned several times at Mass in recent months, is now fully installed. The old organ was certainly running on fumes, but ever since the change, a number of people have told me that the difference is
incomparable. Here are some reasons why it is such a significant difference.

The concept of purchasing a non-digital, real pipe organ was considered in the past, but the idea wound up resulting in too many issues on multiple levels. The musicians at Saint Benedict determined that the Allen Historique III organ was a model that was indisputably more than adequate for the needs of our Masses. The value of this new organ is primarily derived from its versatility, as it has many features that can be used in accordance with what is needed at any given time. In fact, the possibilities heavily outweigh those that a smaller pipe organ could offer. The digital technology’s ability is far more extensive, allowing for the use of many different types of organ sounds, which can be highly beneficial for different songs.

In addition, there are over a hundred possibilities of secondary sounds, such as bells, and even the sound of the ocean. All these options enable parishioners to be united in a moment with the Lord. It is certainly what our parish needed.

To be very clear, this major improvement in our musical faculties would not have happened without those of you who contributed financially. There was a hefty price to pay in order for this organ to be operational at our church, but many of you stepped up, which is a testament to the power of the Holy Spirit! May God bless all of you for your generosity!
