As we move towards the end of summer, the end of relaxation and fun, we find light in the darkness, as youth ministry is back in swing in September. The Rise youth nights, as well as the Encounter for grades 4-6, will be back in no time at all! Here is what to expect this fall as we dive into a new year in youth ministry.

Exciting times are ahead for The Rise, led by Sarah Sequira, the youth minister at Saint Benedict Parish. Every week, we gather for times of prayer, worship, discipleship, and fun!

“There’s always going to be fun, there’s always going to be new friends, but most importantly, there’s always time to learn and talk about our faith,” Sarah said. She is looking to take the ministry into an evangelization-based ministry for the youth at Saint Benedict Parish.

Each week’s gathering will have time to chat, pray together, sing and worship Jesus together, and play some games, too! Some nights will be different than others, focusing on praise & worship music or bringing in a special guest or two for a talk.

“It is so important to be open with each other,” Sarah said. “At The Rise, you will always be making new friends and sharing experiences with people around your age.”

One of the biggest strengths of the ministry is the community of young people that are so warm and accepting of newcomers. We are truly blessed to have such an amazing group of teens and leaders, especially Sarah, here at Saint Benedict.

For parents or teenagers reading, I encourage you to join us at The Rise each Thursday beginning September 12th. I treasure my memories as a teen going through the youth programs at Saint Benedict Parish, and wish the same and more for everyone else.

I can’t wait to see you there!
