From time to time, we feature a profile of one of the Saint Benedict Parish staff members so parishioners can get to know them a little better and get a better sense of what they do at the parish. This month, we’re featuring our Go Out Team Coordinator, Judy Lewis.

What’s your job title?
JUDY: I am the Go Out Team Coordinator.

What staff team are you on?
I am on the Go Out Team with Noreen Smith, Dinah Simmons, and Chris Yetman.

When did you start working at Saint Benedict Parish?
I have volunteered at the parish since 2019 and became a staff member in December 2021.

What does your work here entail?
I coordinate the practical aspects of the outreach ministries at Saint Benedict Parish. These include SBP Cares, Emergency Shelters, Global Outreach Initiatives, and Community Outreach Initiatives.

Where are you from originally?
I was born in Nova Scotia, lived in Labrador for 16 years, came back to Nova Scotia for university, married a military officer and moved to different parts of Canada, lastly Ontario where we lived for 11 years before retiring back to Nova Scotia in 2019.

What did you do before you worked at Saint Benedict Parish?
I worked various jobs in office administration and managed a family entertainment business.

What was a key moment in your faith life that you can share with us?
While in Alberta in 2007, I attended a retreat in Red Deer, Alberta. It was a weekend- long retreat where there was no connection to outside including clocks, daylight, or technology. It was a time of deep reflection, prayer, and workshops.
